“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
Colossians 3:1-4 ESV
Whatever we continually put our attention towards (set our minds on), that is what holds the center of our lives. If it was possible to overcome sin and our past by carefully analysing and ensuring every detail of who we used to be is revisited (to where every “generational sin” problem is known and confessed over and over again) the Bible would teach this. However, what the Bible does teach is: if we confess our sins God is faithful to forgive. We are to leave these dead works of our flesh dead and actively SEEK the things of the Spirit, the Kingdom that rules over every earthly reality. Why is this? How can it be this simple? Because we are dead and our life is hidden with Christ. This is how we are transformed. This is the essence of the New Creation! If we have been resurrected with Jesus, we are where He is!! We enforce this truth by declaring it and acting in it until our mind is fully renewed to the Truth.
We set our minds apart by fixing them on Him; what principles govern in His Kingdom, and by choosing not to think on things that are of the Earth. They are not to have dominion over us but rather Christ and His life. This shows that what we speak, what moves us to action, is to be His Kingdom. Healing for sickness, Hope for despair, Truth in chaos, Love being poured out into a fearful society. Christ is our life, not a part of our life. What He has we get in exchange for what we had.
Right now Father we break off all ties with the world and the fear in our society that holds men captive to the enemy’s works, we break off lies about who we used to be and we claim ourselves dead, hidden with Christ and now raised with Him! We do not fear COVID19 or the aftermath, we are the solution through Your resurrected life in us. Amen
